Now Real Madrid don’t want Beckham to go…

[FOOTBALL/SOCCER] Now Real Madrid don’t want Beckham to go…

They say football (or soccer for those of us who have yet to fully adapt to the re-branded image of the 11-a-side game in Australia) is a funny game and over in Spain it appears it is also a game where memories are indeed very short. Just months ago when David Beckham announced he had signed to play with the Los Angeles Galaxy in the United States, his current club Real Madrid decided if he was not going to be with them in the future then he would ride the pine for the rest of the current season. In fact the animosity between the two parties escalated to the point where Beckham started to explore his options to get out of his Real contract early and move to the USA in time for the opening of the Major League Soccer season. But when Real started to falter in the Spanish league title race – their coach relented and brought Beckham back into the side and wouldn’t you know it – Real are one win away from the title with Beckham in (by all reports) outstanding form.

And now Real Madrid is looking at ways to keep Beckham around for next season – which of course would mean he would have to be released by his future club the Galaxy. But seriously as much as Beckham loves the spotlight and playing in a team the caliber of Real Madrid – surely he wouldn’t have forgotten how he was treated when he first signed with the Galaxy and you’d have to think he is a million to one of turning his back on the Galaxy contract.
