[RUGBY UNION] Australia name side for Tri-Nation's opener against South Africa
After constantly tinkering with the lineup in the lead up to the 2003 World Cup and finding attacking continuity problems in the World Cup Final that year a major disadvantage - the Australian coach John Connolly (who was not in charge in 2003) named a full strength lineup in what I hope will be an indication that continuity in the team becomes the norm rather than versatility.
The Australian team is:
15. HUXLEY, Julian
14. MITCHELL, Drew
13. MORTLOCK, Sterling (c)
12. GITEAU, Matt
11. TUQIRI, Lote
10. LARKHAM, Stephen
09. GREGAN, George
08. PALU, Wycliff
07. SMITH, George
06. ELSOM, Rocky
05. VICKERMAN, Dan
04. SHARPE, Nathan
03. SHEPHERDSON, Guy
02. MOORE, Stephen
01. DUNNING, Matt
Bench: (16-22)
FRIER, Adam; BAXTER, Al; CHISHOLM, Mark; HOILES, Stephen; WAUGH, Phil; ASHLEY-COOPER, Adam; GERRARD, Mark.
Australia will start clear underdogs in the match to be played in Cape Town and although I'm sure the squad selected is capable of pulling off an upset - I don't feel confident we will and thus am tipping the Boks by 8 points.
