[AFL] 'Hindsighting' the AFL Draft
Although the term 'hindsighting' may not actually exist officially it is the word I'm going to use to describe the process of looking back at key decisions with the benefit of hindsight. Yes hindsight is the right term but in order to put that word into a semi-catchy blog title - it must become hindsighting.
But to the topic at hand - the AFL Draft.
The reason the AFL has been able to produce strong teams from around the country and not just in Victoria, has a lot to do with the existence of the Draft and in turn - the ability of clubs around the league to pick the best available young talent from junior leagues across the country. Inside Football - the best weekly sports magazine in Australia - did some hindsighting of their own over the last decade or so of the AFL Draft and listed who they would now pick in the Top 5 if they could redo the draft as of each player's development by 2007.
