[NFL] NFL coach regains right to wear clothes!
San Francisco 49ers Head Coach Mike Nolan has had his wish to wear a suit on the sidelines at all his team's home games granted by the NFL after a legal issue pertaining to apparel company Reebok's contract with the NFL. Reebok's contract stipulated that they would outfit every coach with clothing branded with each NFL team's colours and logo - obviously as a cross-promotional tool to sell the very same items to the consumer. But Nolan - who took over the 49ers in 2005 has been angling to have a return to the days when the head coach of every team wore a business suit on the sidelines.
Nolan managed to gain clearance to wear a tailored Reebok suit at two of the 49ers home games last year but because Reebok isn't really in the business of selling business suits - they obviously didn't want to have an expensive contract (that has their items on show by both coaches at every home game) to go to waste - and as a result a compromise has been made with Nolan and Jacksonville Jaguars Head Coach Jack Del Rio to allow them to wear Reebok suits at all 8 of their home games.
I guess it begs the question - were coaches consulted on this issue BEFORE the NFL gleefully accepted Reebok's contract?
