In today’s Daily Telegraph NSW Second Rower Willie Mason has made a pretty frank plea to the NSW fans to get out to Telstra Stadium next Wednesday night and give the Queensland Maroons both barrels in the hate stakes. Mason says that it is not only the Blues supporters who don’t hate Queenslanders enough. In fact he believes that the NSW team themselves lack the same intense hatred for the Cane Toads that the Queenslanders have for the New South Welshmen.
It is a great headline and for once the contents of a Telegraph article actually had some substance to backup the headline!
For the record I don’t have a warm spot in my heart for Queenslanders during Origin, in fact if during a match that Queensland is leading I usually get some unintelligible sms from a ‘friend’ in the sunshine state and of course while I assume it actually says something about Queensland leading the game – because it is unintelligible its actual contents are a mystery to me. So if anything I probably pity Queenslanders instead of hating them… stay in school!
